Berwang

Berewang, translating roughly as ‘bear meadow’, is the highest village in the Tiroler Zugspitz Arena, offering spectacular views of the Zugspitze and an array of activities in a jaw-dropping setting. Skiers can traverse 36 kilometres of slopes, and easily access the Tiroler Zugspitz Arena for another seven skiing areas (142 kilometres). Excellent cross-country routes, snowboarding, and snowshoeing are also on offer, and state-of-the-art lifts enhance the experience. In summer, explore similarly extensive hiking and cycling trails.

Make sure to try the tasty local delicacies such as pork hocks, fresh trout, and most importantly the rock-water-brewed beer made here (the ‘Bierbrauerei Rinnen’ in Rinnen is the highest brewery in the country). History-lovers should make sure to visit the mesmerising Neuschwanstein Castle nearby.
