The primary wall outlet types in Serbia are Type C (CEE 7/16 Europlug) and Type F (CEE 7/4 Schuko). If your appliance’s plug doesn’t match the shape of these sockets, you will need a travel plug adapter in order to plug in. Travel plug adapters simply change the shape of your appliance’s plug to match whatever type of socket you need to plug into. If it’s crucial to be able to plug in no matter what, bring an adapter for all three types.Electrical sockets in Serbia are usually supply electricity at between 220 and 240 volts AC.Small electronics that run on batteries, such as laptops and iPhones, generally have chargers that are already compatible with 100-240 volts, and therefore usually only require a simple plug adapter. If your appliance isn’t compatible with 220-240 volts, a voltage converter will be necessary.

Currency The official currency in Serbia is the Serbian Dinar. Serbian Dinar (RSD; symbol Дин.) = 100 paras. Notes are in denominations of.5,000, 1,000, 500, 200, 100, 50, 20 and 10. Coins are in denominations of.20, 10, 5, 2 and 1 . Banking Banking hours: Monday-Friday 08h00-19h00, Saturday 08h00-15h00. Some are open on Sundays.International credit cards such as Visa and MasterCard are accepted in most shops, hotels and restaurants in Serbia. Diners Club and American Express are not so widely accepted. ATMs are commonplace across the larger cities, with most accepting international bank cards. Obtaining cash may be more difficult in the countryside so ensure you have enough money before going to a more rural location.Travellers cheques can be very hard to exchange. It is advisable to take hard currency and credit or debit cards.

Mains water is normally chlorinated and, whilst relatively safe to drink, may cause mild abdominal upsets. Bottled water is readily available. Milk is pasteurised and dairy products are safe for consumption. Local meat, poultry, seafood, fruit and vegetables are generally considered safe to eat. If in doubt, peel, boil or cook food to reduce chances of an upset stomach. Serbia’s exchange rate makes it an attractive place to drink and eat out.Serbian cuisine is influenced by its centuries of Ottoman and Austro-Hungarian rule, so expect plenty of borek-style meat pies and baklava. There’s a taste for cured meats, hearty stews, soups and examples of Western influence. Diners can also expect plenty of fish on the menu, particularly freshwater fish such as trout and carp. Vegetarian options are somewhat limited.A tip of 10 percent is expected.

Serbia has a mild continental climate with cold winters and warm summers. The north of Serbia and the upland regions have a continental climate, with the typical cold winters and hot summers. The summer months of June to August offer the best time to visit with a lovely hot climate and little rain. If you’re looking for snow sports, the mountains experience heavy snowfall and offer a great skiing season from December to March.

There are no internal flights within Serbia.Driving is relatively safe, but you should check that your travel insurance covers you throughout the country.  Driving at night is not advisable on minor roads in the countryside, owing to the poor condition of some roads. The Ibarska Magistrala, which links Belgrade to Montenegro, is a particularly dangerous road and should be avoided when possible. There are toll-booths along the motorways, with foreign-registered vehicles charged at a higher toll than local vehicles. The toll also depends on the size of a vehicle. Foreigners may pay in Euros, but at a 20 percent premium. Car hire, taxi travel and cycling are all viable travel options, while travelling by bus is a popular option: there is a wide network of bus routes across the country.

In winter, medium weight clothing and heavy overcoat are advised; while in summer, lightweight clothing and a raincoat are suggested.
