Sassnitz

Located on the northern German island of Rugen, the largest of the country’s islands, the town of Sassnitz fringes the pristine coast overlooking the Baltic Sea. This popular resort town provides an excellent base to visit and explore a myriad of wonderful attractions. Visitors can look forward to viewing the HMS Otus submarine which has been turned into a naval museum, and discover the natural beauty of the Jasmund National Park featuring chalk cliffs, UNESCO-listed beech forests – among the last intact beech forests in Europe – and a network of scenic trails. Don’t miss the Alaris Butterfly Park which is home to a collection of free-flying tropical butterflies.
