Kerlingarfjöll

Located at the foot of the Hofsjokull glacier in Iceland’s highland interior region, the Kerlingarfjöll mountain range reaches 1,477 metres at its highest point. Set in the Icelandic Highlands, the mountain range is composed of red rhyolite stone and is part of a volcano system scattered with hot springs and rivulets. It was once home to a former summer ski resort, today it is a highland resort. This colourful mountain range is one of the largest geothermal areas in all of Europe. Visitors can look forward to relaxing in the geothermal baths, and discovering a network of incredibly scenic hiking trails in this popular hiking area.
