Ohrid

Situated on the shores of its namesake lake in the northwestern corner of North Macedonia, but a short three-hour drive from the capital, Ohrid is a unique destination with breathtaking views, rich history and tranquil charm. The Ohrid region is a UNESCO World Heritage Site, both for the heritage of the town and the endemic flora and fauna of Lake Ohrid. The town is one of the oldest in Europe and is home to the oldest Slavic monastery in the world, as well as beautiful Byzantine icons and a spectacular number of churches. Gorgeous beaches make this an idyllic summer spot, while the smorgasbord of Mediterranean and Turkish cuisine in a beautiful setting makes it a great choice all year round. Take a stroll along the picturesque seafront, wander the cobbled streets of the old town or explore the stunning Galicica National Park.
