Beja offers a tranquil and delightful holiday destination and an authentic taste of Portuguese village life. The town has charming squares, a magnificent thirteenth-century castle, a wonderful traditional market and many excellent restaurants.

Top attractions include the extensive Regional Museum, housed in a 15th century convent; the fairytale castle with its fantastic viewpoint; numerous fascinating and well-protected ancient ruins; and the picturesque Jardim Gago Coutinho e Sacadura Cabral.
