Moura
Moura is a fascinating fortified town in the district of Beja, Portugal. Rich in historic, natural and other attractions, the town offers something for every type of traveller. At the centre, the ruins of a thirteenth-century castle beckon to be explored, along with numerous intriguing Moorish buildings.
Moura is also a spa town: curative mineral waters invite visitors to relax and focus on their health. Outdoor enthusiasts will delight in the Gorgeous green hills nearby, as well as some incredible public gardens (the Jardim Dr Santiago and Spa and Jardim das Oliveiras are must-sees).
Some very interesting museums are on offer, including the Museu Alberto Gordillo, a unique jewellery museum, and the Casa dos Poços, a specialist in Moorish artefacts. Moura is also home to one of the largest power stations in Europe, the Moura Photovoltaic Power Station.
