The Parador San Francisco is located within the walls of the Alhambra, in the middle of its beautiful gardens. The terrace of the Parador offers wide views of the Sacromonte and the Albaicín. The Plaza Nueva is approximately 1 km away and the Cathedral (one of the largest in the world) is 1.2 km away. The Sierra Nevada is about 45 km away. Furthermore, visit the Albaicín, Granada's old Arab quarter, and the Generalife, the former summer palace of the Sultans of Granada. The Fuente Vaqueros, where the birthplace and museum of Spanish poet Federico García Lorca can be found is approximately 20 km away. The distance to Malaga airport is approximately 135 km.
History:
The Parador is part of the Alhambra, a medieval fortress and palace of the Moorish rulers of the kingdom of Granada. Built between 1332 and 1354 by the Moors, it was conquered and remodelled by the Catholic kings in 1492. It is famous for its sophisticated Islamic art and attracts many visitors. It is a World Heritage Site and therefore the number of visitors allowed inside at any one time is limited. Part of the building is a former chapel where the kings of Spain were buried until their remains were transferred to the Royal Chapel in Madrid where they now rest.
Facilities:
Reception, lobby, bar, lift, air conditioning, shop, summer terrace and garden. The interior is a mixture of Christian and Arabic styles. Breakfast is buffet style. The excellent restaurant serves Andalusian cuisine including 'Gazpacho Andaluz' (cold tomato soup with many vegetables) and a special cake, rolled and filled with cream.

These are very spacious and all differently decorated with many paintings and have views of the famous buildings of the Alhambra complex, the Secano gardens, the Generalife and the Albaicin. They have a telephone, TV (Canal+, satellite channels), safe and minibar. The fully equipped bathrooms have a bath or shower and toilet.
