Sierra Nevada National Park

Stretching from the Alpujarra to El Marquesado to the Lecrin Valley, across Andalucia’s Granada and Almeria provinces, the Sierra Nevada National Park is home to Spain’s highest mountains. A popular and convenient day-trip destination from Granada, the park offers phenomenal hiking, skiing, paragliding and bird-watching opportunities. Hike to the summit of mainland Spain’s highest peak, Mount Mulhacén, in a day, or overnight there in a cabin; conquer the slopes of Europe’s southernmost ski resort, the Sierra Nevada Ski Station; or enjoy a leisurely walk, cycle, or picnic in the picturesque and well-equipped Cumbres Verdes Valley. For all the views with none of the effort, head to the restaurants and bars of the Sierra Nevada town. Animal lovers can look forward to spotting Spanish Ibex, badgers, and Golden Eagles, among other species, in this magnificent park.
